19 Antelopes report for basketball

According to Wayne Preston, boys’ basketball coach at AHS, 19 local boys reported for basketball workouts last week. Coach Preston has seven lettermen returning from last year’s squad, but two of these boys, Mike Ritchey and John Brown have not joined their teammates because of injuries sustained during the football season. Ritchey is expected to join the team shortly after the holidays, but Brown will be out a few more weeks.

The other returning lettermen , Phil Guinn, Jack Ingram, Neal Humphrey, Jerry Givens, and Keith Beard have been working vigorously with other members of the squad.

Jack Ingram is having a little trouble with an injury received during the football season, but he is working out with the other team members. Larry Florence still has to wear an elastic bandage on his right hand, which may bother him for a while yet.

Even though the injuries will hamper the strength of the team for a while, Coach Preston is looking forward to a good season for the AHS Antelope cagers. The boys are working hard, getting ready for their first appearance which will be next Tuesday night Dec. 1, when they will take on the Tahoka Bulldogs at 8:15 in the local gym.
