The package was placed for the future publisher of The Abernathy Advocate, and was set to be opened on January 2, 2009.

Antelope Cagers - Pictured above are the 19 AHS boys who reported for basketball workouts last week. They are, front row, left to right: Robert Pope, Bob Teaff, John Kiker, Dan Thompson, Jim Stillwell and Billy Hooker. Middle row, left to right: Jack Hackler, Jack Ingram, Harold Thompson, Keith Beard, Jerry Givens, and Doyle Johnson. Back row left to right: Harley Franklin, Wilton Manley, Larry Florence, Phil Guinn, William Smith, Neal Humphrey and George Regan. Two returning lettermen who were not present when this picture was taken are Mike Ritchey and John Brown. Both men are out due to injuries received during the football season, but are expected to join the team soon.
